Lift Pit

A lift pit, also known as an elevator pit, is a vertical shaft or cavity located below the lowest level of a building where an elevator is installed. It is typically constructed of concrete and lined with metal to provide a sturdy and durable structure.

The lift pit serves as the foundation for the elevator system, and its purpose is to house the elevator machinery and components, such as the elevator car, counterweights, guide rails, and cables. It also serves as a buffer zone for the elevator car when it reaches the bottom of the shaft, absorbing the force of the impact and preventing damage to the elevator and the building structure.

In addition, the lift pit also contains various safety features, such as emergency stop switches, lighting, and drainage systems, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the elevator.
